For those of you who don't know what happens up here on 420 let me just fill you in.
Every year on 4/20 about 5000+ marijuana enthusiasts head on downtown to smoke and celebrate in front of the art gallery. People with cardboard signs on them advertising the prices of weed they're selling are everywhere. People walking on the streets are getting high from second hand smoke.
People come days in advance to get a good spot and to meet up with friends they see only once a year. Despite the fact you can't move most of the time I did not see anyone arguing or being an asshole. Joints and blunts bigger than I've ever seen are passed around the crowd like nothing. When the clock strikes 4:20 everyone exhales in to the air and the sky is blotted out. Starting at 4:20 the "mascot" walks around with about a pound of weed rolled into countless joints and throws them to the crowd.
I honestly smoked so much I can hardly remember the day. I remember the Old Spaghetti Factory was amazing and we [my group] made a ton of friends.
My good friend Ben was interviewed by one of the local, but big, newspaper called The Vancouver Sun, on 4/21 he found that he had been quoted in the paper.
"Grant Hatson, a highschool attendant in North Vancouver had this to say about the legality issues concerning marijauna 'It's illegal...but it's not really illegal' "
Hahaha, Grant Hatson...best made up name ever.
So anyways, this really wasn't a story. I just thought I'd inspire a few people to head up to Vancouver BC next 420 and take part.
Here's a video on youtube (not by me) showing the crowd -
