A harvesting mistake
I knew someone who was growing his own marijuana. He grew a very good strain of marijuana, but the problem was that he had a small little growing area, and insufficient lighting. On top of these problems, once the plants finally did bud, rather than harvesting them properly, he quickly smoked them.
I believe you are supposed to stop watering your plants about 2 days before you cut them down. I don't think he had done this. Also there are some procedures to take when harvesting, I don't think he did that either.
So here's what happened. He sold me a $35 gram of his weed, but since it wasn't really dry, I had to wait for it to dry, and once it dried it was a $35 piece of shit. The weed did get us a little high, but it was a bowls worth by now. Plus it didn't taste good like it should have. Be sure to read up on what you should do when its time to harvest.

www.hempfiles.com is a wonderful resource for anything ganja related. As far as tips for harvesting, When you want to bud your plants, set your lighting to 12-12 (thats 12 hours light, 12 hours no light), buy a loop from a jewler (those magnifying things they use to look at precious stones) , or at least a magnifying glass. Take a look at your buds, look for fully developed trichomes. Trichomes are the white things you find on good buds, a lot of people refer to the trichomes as crystals. The hairs on your buds should turn red-brownish when they are ready to harvest. When these conditions are met, you can harvest. Cut the buds off leaving as little stem as you can, or if there are a lot of buds grouped fairly close on a stem you can just leave that stem on, trim the leafyness, and hang your buds to dry in a dark, DRY area. The time to dry differs so you just gotta check the buds once in a while, the drying process will take days, possibly 7+. Your buds should break up without too much effort, but shouldn't be crumbly.

Harvest time and drying
First of all you must know when it is time to harvest, Plants are harvested when the flowers are ripe. Ripeness is defined as when the white pistils start to turn brown, orange, etc. and start to withdraw back into the false seed pod.
Use a magnifying glass and observe the trichomes (crystals). If they are clear this is good because once they start turning brown the THC is declining.
The time of the harvest controls the "High" of the buds. If harvested early you will get less of a "stoney" or cerebral high. If harvested at its prime, you will get the most out of the THC.
When your plant is ripe, stop watering it and leave it in COMPLETE darkness for two days.
Next, harvest your bud! (if you need trimming or cutting tips just ask)
To properly dry your buds, hang by the stems in an uninsulated area like your garage because it gets more chlorophyll out of your buds. You know it it ready when you take a stem and bend it. If it is brittle enough to snap it is ready to be cured.
To cure, keep your buds in sealed tupperware container(s), burping air and turning the buds daily for two weeks.
This method will make for the tastiest and easiest smoke. Enjoy!

all growers should stop using chemicals / ferts for the last 2 weeks and just use water as this flushes the mineral build up in the plant and buds reulting in a much smoother smoke.
as for harvesting the trichromes go thru 3 different colours / phases.
clear - more of a head stone
milky - a mixed stone
amber - more of a body stone
*stone is also strain dependant*
when havesting plants you can either completely harvest the plant or if you grow hydro you have the option of revegging them. revegging produces stronger buds and saves the need to start a clone again. *note after 3 reveg's it increases chances of hermie*
when harvesting the plant be sure to keep all leaves youve trimmed as bud leaves (or trim leaves) are crystally aswell and thus making hash is an opition.

my buddys got a grow op goin down right now n he sold me one of his plants for $50 i jus gotta wait till harvest and its all mine, i was just wondering what the best method of curing it would be. Im guessing just let it sit in a jar for a while but ive heard different methods, like open it for a couple seconds every 3 days to refresh the air n jus diff bs like that, was wonderin what methods you guys have found stood the test of time and serotonin
